Post Green Hornet
ok, i'm not really excited to see this, except for A) i really like Michel Gondry and 2) the Kato fight scenes in the commercials look A-wesome! i totally don't mind sitting through an ok movie to see those, but to be honest, the rest of the scenes in the commercials look pretty bad

so, with that said, is it worth seeing in theaters?

Oooooh, that's tough. The 3D in the stuff you want to see is really good, but if that's all you're interested in, we're talking maybe 3 scenes tops.

My actual review advice was "Rent It": http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/47590/gr ... et-3d-the/

Post Re: Green Hornet
From the moment I saw the trailers, I wasn't expecting a whole lot. In fact, my expectations were very low. From the get-go "The Green Hornet" wasn't going to be a film I'd rush out and see opening day and I sure as heck wasn't going to pay full price if I did catch it in the theater. Weekday bargin matinee at best.

So yeah, I treated my friend and his 7 year-old son to the full price IMAX 3D screening of it today and paid through the nose. You know, some day I hope I'll learn.....

Anyhow, I have to admit it was better than expected. "The Green Hornet" isn't going to set the cinematic world on fire but as a fun leave-your-brain-at-home popcorn flick, it's actually pretty good. There are some genuine laughs to be had and it contained some truly great action sequences. Cars get destroyed like crazy in the span of the movie's two hours that if you're an auto fanatic, you might shed a tear or two. Performance-wise Seth Rogen is pretty much playing the same character type he does in all his other previous roles. Jay Chou shines as Kato. In fact I'd say Chou steals the movie but I also happened to enjoy Christoph Waltz hamming it up as the antagonist. His character comes off looking more silly than evil but it's easy to see Waltz was having a lot of fun with the role.

Jamie was correct though: the only truly eye-popping 3D moments are a few involving Kato. With the rest of the film, they shouldn't have even bothered.

On a scale from 1 to 10: "Green Hornet" gets a 7 from me.

Of the three Michel Gondry movies i have seen, this is my second favorite.

It was fun. Nothing to write home about, but at the same time, i wouldn't blast it to high heaven.

Unless the least favorite Human Nature, you're banned from this board. We cannot abide such wrongheadedness around here. And you know, we put up with Tony.

I have seen Eternal Sunshine, Be Kind Rewind and The Green Hornet.

I liked parts of Be Kind Rewind, but had a better time viewing The Green Hornet. It may be due to my ability to stomach Seth Rogen more than Jack Black.

By the way i like none of his movies more than his "Sugar Water" video which still blows my mind to this day.

Having grown up listening to audio cassettes of the original radio broadcasts and hearing my grandpa tell me tales from his recollection of the Hornet's adventures, I must say that this version was so very disappointing.

I'll spare you the fan boy rant and just say that I didn't like it.

i finally got around to seeing it yesterday. liked it/ really liked it. BUT! i will say that between work and school lately i've been running pretty ragged and that's why we chose the Green Hornet. discussed seeing True Grit and Black swan but decided we needed fluff. this was perfect for what we wanted. had some flaws, but i really liked the direction and Kato. success!
