 BLACK SWAN
I took in BLACK SWAN last night...
...still thinking about it. I know I didn't enjoy it as much as The Wrestler. I'm not a big Aronofsky fan though, I admit. I didn't care for Requiem or Pi and as such I never bothered with The Fountain. I only saw The Wrestler because a respected friend recommended it so highly.
As for Black Swan...well, let's just say I wanted to see True Grit. That was my #1 pick. Black Swan was my #2. I don't know what to type here as I don't want to be a spoiler guy if you have yet to see it. I enjoyed the film on many levels but overall it did underwhelm me. I will say that this is the only film I've really enjoyed Nalatie Portman in since The Professional (yes even more so than V for Vendetta). However, the actor that stole the show IMHO was (the unrecognizable???) Barbara Hershey who plays Portman's mother.
What did you think of BLACK SWAN?

 Re: BLACK SWAN
I can't wait to see this. I thought The Wrestler was a really great movie. Although my friend did try to scare me off from seeing this by calling it Black Turkey.

 Re: BLACK SWAN
I loved it...nothing that will change your life though...just a good character piece....i think Natalie's character and Max from Pi would make a great couple. Aronofsky is one of my favorite directors. Pi is a blueprint for me for how to make a film....shot for 60,000 and sold to artisan for 1,000,000!!! The Fountain is an amazing film...you should really check it out.

 Re: BLACK SWAN
I don't really like Pi or Requiem for a Dream either, but found The Fountain to be a transformative experience and am onboard for anything Aronofsky wants to do from here on out. If you get a chance, get the movie and the Vertigo comic he did with Kent Williams and absorb them together, including the intro where Aronofsky explains what happened to the project on its way to completion, why the comic exists, etc. I think it actually adds to The Wrestler and Black Swan and deepens his themes of creativity, comebacks, and proving the skeptics wrong that run through all three of those movies.

 Re: BLACK SWAN
I finally got around to seeing it. A really unique and interesting movie. If nothing else it got me really excited to see what Aronofsky is going to do with his next movie Wolverine. For my review check out... http://pablochiste.com/2011/01/12/black-swan/
