I bite my tongue on facebook every time someone links to the trailer and says how awesome it looks. I have to remember, it's not my friends I'm mad at, especially if they aren't familiar with the source material

If it's a friend saying that the trailer looks awesome I have but one piece of advice, "unfriend" that person.

I showed the trailer to an acquaintance who knew nothing of Dark Shadows and they couldn't bring themselves to finish watching it. They just stopped the video and shook their head. That's a reaction I'd expect from most sane people whether they're familiar with the material or not.

See, THAT's what I keep thinking! It looks really lame even if it had nothing at all to do with Dark Shadows, if it was some completely original property. I think the Tim Burton name must come with enough goodwill to throw people off the scent.

I learned to stop trusting Tim Burton before I learned to stop trusting George Lucas. I didn't figure the Lucas thing out until after he'd raped my hopes and dreams.
