The only Marvel that made it in was a reference to the Hulk and of course Stan Lee's restraining order against Sheldon (if you still think like I do Stan Lee = Marvel, though Jack Kirby > Stan Lee and therefore Jack Kirby > Marvel)

It's Red Hood and the Miscreants #1"! *ahem* Well, it IS a Warner Bros production I believe, and they are starting their daily runs on TBS, also owned by WB. It's corporate synergy!

Was actually watching the IT Crowd last night. One of those comedies I love to watch again and again. Agree with it being heaps better than the Big Bang Theory. Plus there was an episode of the Big bang Theory where they were arguing about Wolverine's bone claws which kind of irked me!

Think Big Bang Theory isn't at least partially nerd blackface?
Look no further than the scene prior the credits on the most recent episode (Season 5, episode 10).

Re: The Big Bang Theory is Nerd Blackface...
Truth be told, I had already forgotten. At least "American Horror Story" still keeps me interested enough to remember the previous episode. The scene I refer to was in the comic shop. Sheldon makes offers that comics provide storytelling through sequential art and date back to cave paintings. Not a big win for comics-moment, but at least it was a more positive note than the usual "comics are for dorks who live with their parents" old-timey gem. That was all erased moments later in the scene that dealt with Amy Farrah Fowler asking the comic store guy if he had any comics other than ones with girls with big breasts. His jokey response is pretty much a "Well, that's how it is here, hyuk hyuk". Sure, I'm not looking for a PSA in the middle of the episode to debunk the myths of comic books and their readers, but it'd at least be nice for them to get some respect. *shrugs*

Oh, that episode. Yes. It's an easy setup for the punchline. That's for sure. It also shows the stark difference between BBT and again, going back to IT Crowd. Laughing at and laughing with.
I wonder if BBT can be "fixed" to be more like IT Crowd...

Re: The Big Bang Theory is Nerd Blackface...
I have yet to see The Big Bang Theory but have been recommended to watch it a few times. After reading the posts the recommendations to watch this show may be something I should take offense to, am I that much of a stereotypical nerd?! haha
I have seen The IT Crowd and I love that show. A show I feel truly captures the essence of comic/nerd culture is Spaced. Directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg as a comic book shop working slacker, it has amazing references to many aspects of geek culture. For example, the comic shop Simon Pegg works in has tons of EC comics displayed behind him as he expresses his dis-taste for The Phantom Menace. Like most nerds who appreciate the sci-fi genre, I too love EC comics and hate the Star Wars prequels.
