 Green Lantern
I'll surprise nobody here and say I loved it. I'll try to codify my thoughts a bit more on the whole thing, but suffice to say, I'm satisfied, and admit the movie wasn't perfect.

 Re: Green Lantern
I was really nervous about seeing the movie, after all the negative things I heard. But I am glad I went! Fun movie, hope they make a sequel. I have never been a Green Lantern guy, but I gotta say...I wanna read some trades now! Chad

 Re: Green Lantern
It was chopped to hell, but i enjoyed watching what was there. I just wish it was a little more fleshed out.

 Re: Green Lantern
What Ralph said. It was a decent film; just not nearly as bad as most of the critics are making it out to be. I also agree it felt like they cut too much out of it which is a possibility given it's less than 2 hours long. My other problem was how they kept introducing things briefly like Hal freezing up, Hal's family or Hal's training and then never went back to it again. Two minutes and then *poof* on to the next thing. And are you saying even though the Corps is extremely vast, the filmmakers could only allow three others to be featured promently? When Hal gets rescued in the end and I saw three beams of light - gee wee, I wonder which lanterns saved him? But aside from those few rants, I thought it was slightly above average film and hope a sequel gets (no pun intended) greenlit.

 Re: Green Lantern
Chad, get yourself some trades and you'll see what the hubub is about. Hope you like the trades and glad you liked the movie!
The film was edited by Stuart Baird, who also edited Casino Royale for Martin Campbell, and Baird was also the director of Star Trek: Nemesis. He's known for emphasizing action over character development, so that may have hampered things a bit here - it certainly did for Nemesis!
Hopefully there is a longer director's cut when this comes out on Blu Ray that may expand on some things that only got brief mentions. On a mailing list I'm on some are calling the Hal in this movie the Top Gun Hal and they were looking for more of a Right Stuff Hal (stoic, square jaw born hero, right out of the 1960s). They sold me on this the moment Hal jumped into his car and put on his aviators. The good news, at least for us GL fans, is that the sequel is in the planning stages and WB wants to franchise this out now that Harry Potter is wrapping up.

 Re: Green Lantern
Awesome! Sinestro Corp War is also very good too - even if has the zero personality, zero motivation Anti-Monitor in it.

 Re: Green Lantern
I picked up about a third of the Blackest Night comics for about $1 each a few weeks ago at a sale, and am now about 9 or 10 comics away from finishing that event, according to my checklists. I thought it was honestly way cooler than it had any right to be, but that's just me...and that's after mainly reading the BN itself, GL, and GLC books (haven't gotten to the rest of them yet).
