Re: Casting for Dark Knight Rises announced! I was going to make a joke comparing Bane to Venom in the third Spidey film, but then realized that Bane got his powers from a drug called venom. So, looks like somebody beat me to it.

Re: Casting for Dark Knight Rises announced! Alright guys, alright. I admit I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I heard the news too. But if any film director should be given some benefit of the doubt on casting, it's Nolan. Let's face it - not everyone was on board when Ledger was announced as the Joker. If Nolan thinks Hathaway will make a great Bane, then I'm willing to trust him.  All joking aside, I can see the possibilities. I highly doubt Nolan is going to introduce the venom inducing hulk-like muscleman version like we saw in *sigh* "Batman and Robin", but I could see him as the brilliant strategist like he is the comic. And Hardy has definately proved he has what it takes based on his role in "Bronson". True, the Riddler (David Tennant) would have been better but again, I trust Nolan. It's not like he casted bad actors in the roles. As for Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, I 120% endorse that (especially if it's based on Brubaker, Darwyn and Mike's redesign).

Re: Casting for Dark Knight Rises announced! To explain my *sigh* further, it's because I don't like Bane. Seeing him as a character (even done well... whatever that is for Bane) just doesn't get me excited.
Maybe it'll be good. I'll wait until trailer time to make any decisions on if I'll see it or not. Anne Hathaway is a wonderful actress and I like Catwoman just fine.
If they wanted a hulking bruiser, Clayface or Killer Croc would've put more of a smile on my face.

Re: Casting for Dark Knight Rises announced! Clayface and Killer Crock are actually TOO unlikely in a "real world" type situation that the Nolan Bat-films exist in compared to Bane oddly enough. IMO. Bane is just a juiced up bruiser. I can't see them myself in these movies.
