With regret I inform you all of the news that Elizabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith on Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures passed on this morning. She will be missed.

What a wonderful actress and so full of class. I just picked up the third season of "Sarah Jane Adventures" yesterday so watching it now is going to be a little difficult. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I was stunned to hear this, too. I had no idea how ill she was but I understand she was a very private person. Many wonderful tributes online, especially the one from Tom Baker on his site.

The BBC have confirmed that there will be a dedication to Elizabeth Sladen before the start of this Saturday's season opener of Doctor Who on BBC1. For those of you in the UK, there will be a 15 minute tribute to Ms. Sladen on CBBC at 6:45, directly after Doctor Who ends and before Doctor Who Confidential at 7:00 on BBC3.
