 New (old) music!
Look what I got in the mail today...
It's the Rhino Handmade 3 disc limited edition. Can't wait to listen to it tonight! If you've never heard this album before, it's pretty trippy. Especially for a Monkee's album.

 Re: New (old) music!
I like the Monkees, but have not heard this. I grew up with "Then and Now", which has a lot of song that you can still hear on the radio. I watched the show religiously on Nick at Night. I don't know why i haven't expanded my Monkees library, but i think it is high time that i do.

 Re: New (old) music!
Ohhhhh...yeah, you should give this a listen. I'll be completely honest, if you watch the movie be aware (like so many have said before, and so many will say in the future) that it is not a 90 minute version of the TV show. What followed the movie that this is the soundtrack to was a TV special, 33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee that made Head look subtle. My favorite Monkee's albums are Head, Headquarters and Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.

 Re: New (old) music!
I'm in the same boat as Ralph, where I grew up watching the reruns on Nick at Nite and listening to the heavy-rotation "Best of" stuff that played on the radio.
Glad to see you got your highly-prized set. I think it's past time for me to check into giving them a listen seriously. I recently got my old laptop back from my parents house (my dad is now using my mom's macbook because she got an iPad) so now I can update my iPod conveniently again instead of heading over there to do it.
Thanks for the reminder to keep looking for exciting new (old) stuff!

 Re: New (old) music!
That is GORGEOUS! The movie is a brilliant example of how a "pre-fab" band can deconstruct themselves in under 2 hours and shoot their "pop" career in the foot while they're at it.

Speaking of box sets - David Bowie's huge "station to station" set is on sale on Amazon.com for $99 for the next 4 hours: http://amzn.to/GoldboxDeals I don't mean to be advertising for companies, but I thought some of you would be interested.

 Re: New (old) music!
That's not a problem. We mentioned the Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off sale over in the movie section.
