Post New (old) music!
Look what I got in the mail today...

It's the Rhino Handmade 3 disc limited edition. Can't wait to listen to it tonight! If you've never heard this album before, it's pretty trippy. Especially for a Monkee's album.

I like the Monkees, but have not heard this. I grew up with "Then and Now", which has a lot of song that you can still hear on the radio. I watched the show religiously on Nick at Night. I don't know why i haven't expanded my Monkees library, but i think it is high time that i do.

Ohhhhh...yeah, you should give this a listen. I'll be completely honest, if you watch the movie be aware (like so many have said before, and so many will say in the future) that it is not a 90 minute version of the TV show. What followed the movie that this is the soundtrack to was a TV special, 33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee that made Head look subtle. My favorite Monkee's albums are Head, Headquarters and Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.

Post Re: New (old) music!
I'm in the same boat as Ralph, where I grew up watching the reruns on Nick at Nite and listening to the heavy-rotation "Best of" stuff that played on the radio.

Glad to see you got your highly-prized set. I think it's past time for me to check into giving them a listen seriously. I recently got my old laptop back from my parents house (my dad is now using my mom's macbook because she got an iPad) so now I can update my iPod conveniently again instead of heading over there to do it.

Thanks for the reminder to keep looking for exciting new (old) stuff!

That is GORGEOUS! The movie is a brilliant example of how a "pre-fab" band can deconstruct themselves in under 2 hours and shoot their "pop" career in the foot while they're at it.

Speaking of box sets - David Bowie's huge "station to station" set is on sale on Amazon.com for $99 for the next 4 hours: http://amzn.to/GoldboxDeals

I don't mean to be advertising for companies, but I thought some of you would be interested.

That's not a problem. We mentioned the Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off sale over in the movie section. :)
