Vital question for you all, regarding comics/graphic novels..
Well,as you may have seen the trend for comic sales has been downward for quite a bit now,and the numbers for last month are troublesome, the industry is coming to a crossroads, and the thing is that there may be one dominant format in times to come,
my question to you all is...
if it came down to it,what would you choose as the dominant format,
Comics ?
or
Graphic Novels ?
granted, both have their positives and negatives,
as for comics,I like their frequency, monthly or bi monthly or whatnot, and their prices are ok,and it's a classic formatgoing for 80 years or so,give or take, though also, they could fall into the trap of not providing enough entertainment for your dollar,20-22 pages each time,
whereas
Graphic novels have the positive of having a complete or as close to story, from cover to cover, and their prices whilst being a bit more marginally higher. have the advantage of longevity, and can sit nicely in your bookcase or wherever andis durable, whereas comics are not and have to be taken care of more, though they have the negativity of less frequency,as many graphic novels, originals or reprints only get released once or so a year, and there fore the entertainment value isn't as immediate,
which would you choose,if only one of these formats could survive ?
if you ask for me,I'm split with my decision,it's a tough one, though I would have to say comics would be my current choice,
what about you ?
peace.
