Post Old Green Lantern collections wanted
Heya,

Looking to replace some pre-return of Hal Jordan collections that were never returned to me. Specifically the following:

"New Journey, Old Path"
"Circle of Fire"
"Ganthet's Tale"
"Brother's Keeper"
Ion volumes 1 and 2

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Dig it! Thanks a heap, Brian!

I'm missing a huge chunk of Kyle stuff along with Kyle joining the JLA-era collections. 'bout 3/4ths of a longbox worth. I let a "buddy" of mine borrow them while in college and he kept me at bay long enough for to get away with them. Big fat *SIGH*

It's trades that I'm lookin' for. I have the singles but they're all packed away and mixed in with issues of "The Power Company".

And speakin' o' the trades, I don't mind if they aren't super de-duper minty mint. I'm just looking for a reading copy. Also, I meant to add in that I'm lookin' for a copy of "Final Night" as well if they happen to have one.

Lastly... just talking shop here. Do you hope that eventually DC'll collect the old "Day of Judgement" mini by Geoff Johns and Matt Smith which combined Hal and the Spectre? I loved that mini... wish they'd finally collect it.

Thanks a heap, man!

Our copies should still be in very reasonable shape. We're a civilized shop as you all have seen in the pages of I, Zombie. :)

It is a bit odd that Day of Judgement was never collected in the day. So much time has gone past that really I can't see DC putting it on their schedule of releases for the future. The state of the DCU has moved on so far from where it was then that it wouldn't make sense to readers these days. Ah well...

I would love to re-read all of those 1990's GL books. That is when i started reading. My second comic was Green Lantern #1. I believe it was called "Down to Earth". I had a subscription come to my house, but did not read in my high school years.

I was hoping that the DC Archive edition hardcovers would continue on a lot longer that they did, but if the new Omnibus (SHOWCASE #22-24 and GREEN LANTERN #1-21) series gets into the 70's and 80's, i will definitely buy them. As it stands, i have all of the DC Archives for GL Silver Age, but they have discontinued that line as of #6 (issues #39 - 47). I kind of feel let down.

I'm deperately hoping to find a copy of "Final Night", especially. It boggles my mind they haven't re-released it either.

As for the Archives, yeah... it chaps my hindquarters they've stopped at volume 6. The whole Archives program seems to be nearly dead in the water with, if I recall, 4 new volumes per year. Compared to Marvel's counterpart, the Masterworks, it's ridiculous. I went ahead and got the two Showcase volumes (black and white) that pick up where the Archives left off and another is due out later this year that'll bring the issues up to #100. It's still such a shame that Archives have gone by the wayside.

I do have a complete set of the Showcase volumes that cover up to #75, and always assumed that DC would do archives up to #75 as well. The omnibus just doesn't seem to have the same sense of class that the archives did. The next Showcase will probably take it up to 89 to complete that segment of the run and conclude the second series of Green Lantern (the first series being the 1940s run). MAYBE include the backup stories in The Flash (that'd be kinda sweet, really) and the two GL specials in a nice, healthy bumper volume).

Those first 89 issues of GL are going to be where your super-expensive issues are going to be found. Period. Everything else isn't going to be that bad, it's just a lot of it. Actually, those Flash issues can get spendy as can the two specials before the relaunch with #90. So if you're looking to do what I have foolishly done, or if I were try to do this today, I'd get reprints up to #89 via Showcase or the omnibus versions (preferably archives, but that's just me). Then get #90 onwards at a slow pace. The nice thing about Showcase volumes is the crisp black and white reproduction if you want to really look at the artwork.

Matt, I think they did do a re-release of Final Night a few years ago, and I am fairly certain we have it. So you may be lucky there. :)

The only version I'm aware of for "Final Night" came out in 1998 as a tradepaperback.

Regardless, that's sweet! There's was one on ebay that I decided not to go for since it was getting a little hairy. Maybe I'll be able to get one through you. If not, hopefully there'll be other chances.

As for doing what you did, Brian, I know I'd never be able to afford the original issues of the 2nd series stuff. I' bought the Archives as they were released and passed on the Omnibus when it recently came out. I heard roughly the same thing you did... not as nice as the Archives.

The solicit here (http://www.dccomics.com/dccomics/comics/?cm=17257) shows that Showcase v. 5 will go up to #100. The two tpb collections of GL/GA from the historic O'Neil/Adams run also included the Flash back-ups, so I'm hoping they'll be included in the Showcase volume as well.

Out of curiosity, did you read the Spectre series when it was coming out? Did you like it or hate it?

I enjoyed it, but even then it didn't satisfy me and I wanted him back as GL. That scene in "Identity Crisis" with him and Ollie was a fanboy dream when I read it. Just about the ONLY upbeat scene in that whole (wonderful but sad) story.
