Post Official iZombie #8 Thread
I hereby and forthwith confer upon myself the ability to make official threads!

My three favourite things, in an issue I really enjoyed:

1. Opens on nudity! Always a plus ;)

2. The panel where Gwen's hair is blowing while she's on the swing: this was one of the most kinetic drawings I've ever seen in comics. It reminded me of one of the kids from Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" music video, with the camera attached to them so that you don't see them moving, just the background behind them.

3. There's a close-up of Gwen's glove in one panel, and for some reason, I just really enjoyed the combination of Mike's feathering and the deep blue colours on it. Really stood out for some reason, and reminded me of staring at the highlights in Veronica Lodge's hair as a kid reading Archie comics.

Other things I liked:

-the fight scene was a lot of fun, for some reason (I'm not normally a fan of them)

-Chris' writing strikes me as better the more in-depth he's allowed to go, and we're really reaping some more dividends here after a lot of buildup.

-Reading the comic while drinking absynthe while my wife and I watch old Dark Shadows episodes on dvd the night before her birthday is probably my new favourite way to read iZombie (and might partially account for how I noticed 2 and 3 above). I should see if I can get her to have another birthday next month, because that was just a fun, singular experience of enjoying some fine comics.

-that wonderful cover! Where does he get those wonderful covers?

Haven't gotten a chance to read mine, but the cover makes me wonder when we'll see some big nose imagery. Here's a mouth, which we've seen some of before in MAC... and we've seen lots of eyeballs over the years. When do we see a gigantic Allred-y nose?!!

Looking forward to taking a peek at this ish.

Post Re: Official iZombie #8 (spoiled)
i love issue 8, opening with nudity is a great way to let your fans know you're thinking about them :P but it's classy too! gwen, i must admit, is a genuinely good-looking zombie. but the frame that takes my breath away is the last frame on the first page where she's dunking water over her head. very minimal and trusting. and page ten's lower frame, where claire wakes and questions galatea, it's very striking. i am guessing that jamie is keeping mike from getting any shut-eye with the all night horror-movie marathons. oh, and i think the pages look better on the unglossed newsprint.

(possibly a lousy lousy spoiler ahead)

i'm a little slow, and we're only pages away from this, but all arrows are pointing to that blonde guy from the comic shop being gwens brother. and how he'll fit into the story, what spot's uncle nags him about, is interesting too. it's like a soap-opera only (i) can get away with it because it's a comic!

always enjoyable, this is the first comic I read when I get my list from my shop, the art gets better and better if that is possible given that Doc Allred's art is supreme perfection in the first place,

Chris Roberson's writing hits the spot as well, the pacing is done brilliantly, not only paying attention to Gwen and co. though weaving in and out other sub plots,

10/10 *****

peace.

A "NOSE" cover?

I'll start brainstorming now!

I really can't say it enough, I love this new series! Besides Madman it's about the best thing I've read in the last 20 years(I'm only 23). I can't get enough of Mike's art and Laura's colors. And of coarse Chris Roberson has done an awesome job on the story.
